I am thinking of a funny costume to don during the run leg in next week NYC tri

The crowds/ volunteers are pretty awesome through central park, and its always a pleasure to give them something back. Last year i carried a tiger doll on my back, which was fun. This year i want to wear a costume, as large bags/ dolls are not let into transition now due to the Boston event

Just wanted to see if you guys have worn costumes before? what did you wear? Ideas are appreciated!!

(btw, times are not really important for me, i do triathlons for fun, and dont mind if it takes a few mins to change in transition)

Never done it for the run leg of a tri, but I did run the Strip at Night Vegas Marathon last December as Lt. Dangle from Reno 911. It was quite a hit.

I've worn a pink tutu and carried a sparkly wand on the run portion of Kansas 70.3 for 5 years (originally trying to be Glinda the Good Witch, but to most people I am just TUTU GIRL):

We were superheroes one year for a 44-mile relay (I did not run in those boots):

And one year for the same relay we were a 70s basketball team. I ran in this afro wig (not my real hair):

Ran one as Skywalker with a Yoda doll on my shoulders. I think it helped.

Ran an Oktoberfest half marathon in this.  Crossed the finished line and was ready for the beer halls.

If I saw Lt. Dangle in a run, I'd lose it.
That is so awesome!

Haven't done it, but keep contemplating the idea of having a Batman mask and cape in transition. Would also like to have a Batman emblem on my try suit. I think that would be quite the sight.

You're free to steal it, too.

Hopefully this question is not a 'hijack'...

So do relay teams normally dress with a costumes or themes for runs? (idea from Lisa's pics)

I am trying to get some friends to commit to a relay team for a 50K (10K each) ... this might make it fun...

I've worn spandex in the form of a tri top and tri shorts through all of my tri races.  Most people think I look pretty funny in them.

As a general rule no, but when you do see it, they and everyone else really have fun with it.

Go for it.

One of my mates (Dan Quick) did the Arizona Ironman 2011 as Blueman. He was an enormous hits with the volunteers, supporters, especially the kids as he was giving high-fives to everyone on the marathon run course. He's also dressed as Santa (complete with stuffed belly), and a Lucha libre wrestlers mask and cape during two Olys.

I was just given clearance on Friday to start running again after an injury in early June. My physical therapist gave me permission to do the Grand Haven Triathlon on Sunday (which I had signed up for months before), as long as I kept the run to a "jog" and didn't try to push myself through it. I had to mentally check myself, as I am not good at that kind of pacing, so one of the things I did was to try to have fun with it. Picked up a Batman mask and created a cape using a flag from my alma mater, Michigan State. Wore the mask for most of the run (didn't put it on until about a quarter mile in when I settled into a pace). It was an out and back run, so I had one of my friends hand me the cape on the way back. Kept spouting lines such as:
"I'm heading to the Batcave"
"The Batmobile has a flat"
"I'm chasing the Joker"

When people would pass me and say something to me, I would say "Thanks Robin". And "Thank you citizen" to all of the spectators.
"Batman is in a lot of Batpain" was one of my favorites on the nasty little hill in the last quarter mile.

What to wear under the wetsuit? What to wear for the bike and the run? Good thing someone invented the wonderful trisuit, to which we’ve become accustomed. It’s supposed to make our lives so simple.
