I am not an a-hole, (I play Chippy's evil twin on a few episodes a year) but I do get tired of the immaturity and self absorption around here at times.

I was simply trying to give fatherly advice from the perspective of a 40something, but possum is totally correct - in 20 years, NO ONE is going to CARE where you went to college. Trust us.

Exactly. I agree with oneword and Possum.

The one exception being your Alumni Association who will continuously ask that you send even more money to your dear Alma Mater...

Tyrant, whether you get it or not, people here are actually trying to give you some constructive comments and advice.

So here's my idea for the day:

Since things are  going so well with your intership have you considered approaching them about your financial needs?  Make a proposal to your boss or HR manager that they loan/advance your tuition, and in turn you agree to work for them for a specified period of time after you graduate, say somewhere between 3-5 years.  Leave yourself an out where you could leave early if the loan is paid off.  (The downside risk is that if they can your a** the loan becomes due immediately)   Put it all in a letter that you can present to them (and for heaven's sake please use spell check).  If they are really pleased with your work then they hopefully would look at it as a good investment in a known quantity who can hit the ground running after graduation next spring.

I second this as a tremendously good idea.

As per college. Consider your degree highly radioactive, with a half life of 1 year. In ten years it will be nearly worthless unless you have proven yourself. gimme a sec to figure out how many times people have asked me where I went to college/medical school/residency before I take a scalpel and cut them and look at their insides......

Step 1   Look at your finances and decide where you can afford to go to school

Step 2   Agree with yourself that the decision you made is the right one, emotionally and pragmatically

    Step 3   Quit Whining

On second thought, jump step 3 to Step 1

and shoot  the clown who convinced you the GI bill was a bad investment...I hope these aren't the 'business skills' you have been lauding for so long...

    Ty,

Okay, since you haven't responded to my first idea (or anybody else's for that matter), here are some additional strategies to consider for raising tuition:

#2) Marry Paris Hilton.  I think you two would get along well.  Really.

#3) Select a good bank in your neighborhood and then rob it.

#4) Buy a bunch of lottery tickets.

#5) Re-enlist in the army and sign up for the GI bill this time.

#6) Actually start training for triathlons, get really good at them, and then turn pro.

Trying to help you here, guy.  Work with us.
