Does anyone have the "in" or have heard that the WTC will be adding any new Full IM's for 2014? (besides Boulder) I have heard people talk that they might be adding one in the NC/SC area. Has anyone heard anything else?

An announcement is due sometime this month. Last I heard there were three cities in the running with their bids (Hilton Head Island, SC; Myrtle Beach, SC and Asheville, NC)

Rumor is that all 3 of those cities are out and Chattanooga TN is the new front runner. Winston Salem NC and Raleigh NC have also been mentioned as possible new sites.

It sounds like WTC might have gone back to the drawing board a little.  Posts on ST suggest Asheville was the leading contender but they were asked to take out some of the elevation on the bike course.  That was not possible so they have been more or less ruled out.  I guess WTC didn't want an IM bike course that had 8000' of climbing. Laughing

That seems to have brought Chattanooga to the forefront.

maybe on one continuous climb. IMWI has about 8000 ft of climb over the whole course.

As the other poster mentioned... you're not remotely close.

It makes no sense to train hard for a year to hone that aerobic system only to have all that training undermined by a few anaerobic bursts on race day. So, how do you go about it?
