Subject: hamstrings and cadence question Okay, I'll admit I am completely ignorant when it comes to the physical movements in the pedal stroke and how different cadences might affect different muscles. It is very obvious to me that the quadriceps play the largest portion of power generation. I am questioning how much the hamstring comes into play, and the effect on the hamstrings of higher cadence versus lower cadence. I was forced to take most of a month off of running and cycling, and I am just jumping back into it now. I was at a local TT event last night and besides being fairly well gassed from not riding much recently, I noticed my hamstrings were very tired in the middle of it. I also noticed that my cadence was a little too low for most of the ride (probably around 80 ).
Would these two things be related to each other? Am I exerting too much pressure in the pull phase of the pedal stroke because I am in too tough of a gear? |
