I had one or two good days at Mistletoe in years past but it's off the menu this time - still, be worth showing just to see the Phatknot 'bottle slam' at awards...

Good luck to all racing.

its hardly worth racing a TTP if you dont see alltom or thecaptin there. i think the water bottle smash has run its course. may need a new schtick...

I out of town for Mistletoe, but planning on Tanner II this year to finally have a good swim in that stupid little worthless pond!   I would not mind a respectable run either.

I guess rain wouldn't be such a bad thing compared to the conditions at Xterra Hickory Knob!

Unfortunately, I did not get the chance to meet you, but my wife saw your shirt. She asked me what it meant, and I did not have a response.

How did your race go?

so this is possibly a topic starter but its also pertinent. I had a cancellation at work and wondered how my times at mistletoe compared over the 4 times i did it since 2008. I am 45 years old now and I had my fastest time overall largely due to a better swim and bike as well as faster transitions. the thread starter is that i actually dropped times as I aged for a sprint which does not go to form. my run was a tad slower but that may be partially due to no substantive speed work or 5ks (stress reaction from october to march this year). im pretty surprised we actually do get faster with age sometimes when we get older haha.

Cold Fire,

This wasn't my best race. I was actually two minutes slower than last year's overall time. Long story, short... I didn't set myself up for success the week and night before. I learned a lot at Mistletoe in regards to my training. I have been putting a little more in to my bike lately and I think my run suffered as a result. I think I was trying to get too fancy. My motto going in to the Augusta Half is "Back to the Basics." I need to stick with what I know is best.

The Tri4Him on the shirt is in reference to a Christian triathlon club that I am a part of. The local group, in Augusta, is small with only a few of us racing and training together. The overall goal of the club is to represent Christ on race day and encourage those along the course as we race. The other goal is to spark interest in Jesus Christ. There in lies the motto Tri 4 "Him."

How did you do? You racing either of the Hot Dam races in September?

Sincerely,

Chase Lord
Grovetown, Georgia

As the fog cleared, the buoy that I first saw earlier in the morning was just the first marker in a very long line of buoys that stretched across the lake like a runway for a 747 jetliner.

At first I thought, "Oh boy, what a mistake!" Let’s face it, I could barely run half a mile, I had not swum in forever, and my biking skills were not great, to say the least.

My sister warned me about being used as a launch ramp by faster swimmers but much to my surprise I was the one swimming over those in front of me. I went around one woman, then another.
