My hubby's very first tri is this weekend, so he spent some time practicing setting up his transition:

Pretty good set up, although I find is faster to place the helmet upside down on top of my cycling shoes.

Need the bike pump in there. Gotta make sure your tires are up to snuff before you go out on the ride!

This setup is rediculous. Some thoughts:

- So much time wasted here. The melon should be on the aerobars, so he can eat after t1.
- Pre-spread the peanut butter in the shoes and add baby powder if he's going sockless.
- Wine in camelback or rear bottle holder. Zoot makes a great aero corkscrew.
- Can't help but notice the lack of lube anywhere. I like to have a small inflatable pool full of KY jelly to save time.

What a mess. First of all, the ice cream container should be open. Yes, you might get ants in there during the swim, but think how good it will feel to dip those feet right in after coming off the hot beach. 2nd thing - What's up with the coffee not already being in the coffee maker? I mean, such a newbee mistake. Tell him he better just do a 5k and leave the races with transitions to the big shots.

That's hilarious!!  Can you imagine that at an actual race?  That would be the greatest transition setup EVER to walk in and see.

I would LOVE if someone did this as a "punked" or "what would you do" kind of joke - get people's reaction on video.

Have the athlete ask around for outlets to plug in his Keurig and toaster LOL

The helmet should be on the melon. I understand that you gotta protect your melon. Other than that, this is perfection

This.Is.AWESOME!!!

However, if we're going for efficiency (and that's what transition is all about)...

- the lid to the ice cream should be off with spoon already in the ice cream

- the timer should be set on the coffee machine to start making coffee precisely 1 minute before the expected time into transition, you don't want to wait for the cup to brew - that would take entirely too long!

- the peanut butter lid needs to be off and someone needs to be on hand IN transition to also push down the toaster button thingy and then spread the PB onto the toast - c'mon, we're going for efficiency here, people!

- helmet should be on the melon already - safety first.

- um... why the heck is the wine corked?  That just seems wrong!

I did point that out to him (because he really is going to use a bucket in spite of me telling him it is a huge NEWBIE indicator) and he replied, "$h!t!  And I forgot the *F*ing bike, too!"

I recommend a dozen helium balloons in bright colors as well. This makes it easier to find your place in transition!
