  • 25m 17s
  • 1600 meters

Comments:

The swim was positive as the cross current / chop played to my swim strength.
What would you do differently?:

Not much.
Transition 1
  • 01m 42s
Comments:

Took the time to put on bike shoes.
Bike
  • 1h 01m 36s

Comments:

Very smooth roads. The +1,300' of rollers came as a bit of surprise. All in all a decent bike.

Comments:

Took the time to put on socks
Run
  • 43m 24s
  • 10.1 kms
  • 04m 20s  min/km
Comments:

A tough run with some GI issues. Hung in there and finish pretty strong.
What would you do differently?:

Because of the wave starts it was not possible to determine overall rank during the run so I did not realize I was going to place well in the Overall Ranking.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

GI Issues

Event comments:

A good local race with a surprisingly tough course (current, rollers and heat).

My first triathlon was at age 56. At first I was just the cameraman at my daughter's first triathlon, then I am doing the races that she has done.

I went down to the beach the day before to scout out the course, and it was glorious...the sun was out, the sea was as smooth as glass, and only a hint of a breeze was blowing. “Perfect,” I thought.

Knowing where the fluids are, how they will fit on your bike, how much to reach for, and when to reach for it should be understood prior to ever setting foot on the course.
