Run
Comments: I really thought I started out slower than I did. I had my little running buddy (the virtural partner) set to run a 30 minute 5K. I tried to keep pace with him... but with the tree cover it said I was losing ground. So when I thought I was going at my pace, I found out at mile 1, I was way the heck ahead of what I wanted to be at. Mile one was pretty much down hill, I just ran and felt pretty great. Legs felt strong, breathing was pretty good for the most part. Mile 2 I was starting to feel it a little more, the heat was getting to me. I was pacing with a few people then I would drop back. Mile 3 - I was really needing a break, I had my water break at mile 1.5 but I could tell I was getting tired. I slowed down and walked some, trying to keep my breathing under control. I figured per my garmin, there was no way I was going to beat 30.... I was "way behind" so much for technogoly. What would you do differently?: I would run a little harder in mile 3 to get that under 30 goal. Post race
Warm down: Walked around got a banana some more water, a pop. What limited your ability to perform faster: The heat and lack of base miles. I have been putting in some miles, but races are a whole different animal. I think I need to work on the mental aspect of the race. Event comments: I look forward to doing this again next year. I tried to get there a little early to stretch and warm up. Since once again I had never been to this race, I had no clue where the start was. I drove around for about 20 minutes looking for the start. So much for a warm up. But then again at 86 degrees and 80% humidity who needs a warm up?
Jogged to the sign in table, jogged to the start line. Stretched very little and said hi to a few people I knew.
