Overall Rank = 197/258

Age Group Rank = 15/18
Pre-race routine:

I tried to get there a little early to stretch and warm up. Since once again I had never been to this race, I had no clue where the start was. I drove around for about 20 minutes looking for the start. So much for a warm up. But then again at 86 degrees and 80% humidity who needs a warm up?
Event warmup:

Jogged to the sign in table, jogged to the start line. Stretched very little and said hi to a few people I knew.

Comments:

I really thought I started out slower than I did. I had my little running buddy (the virtural partner) set to run a 30 minute 5K. I tried to keep pace with him... but with the tree cover it said I was losing ground. So when I thought I was going at my pace, I found out at mile 1, I was way the heck ahead of what I wanted to be at.

Mile one was pretty much down hill, I just ran and felt pretty great. Legs felt strong, breathing was pretty good for the most part. Mile 2 I was starting to feel it a little more, the heat was getting to me. I was pacing with a few people then I would drop back.
Mile 3 - I was really needing a break, I had my water break at mile 1.5 but I could tell I was getting tired. I slowed down and walked some, trying to keep my breathing under control. I figured per my garmin, there was no way I was going to beat 30.... I was "way behind" so much for technogoly.
What would you do differently?:

I would run a little harder in mile 3 to get that under 30 goal.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around got a banana some more water, a pop.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The heat and lack of base miles. I have been putting in some miles, but races are a whole different animal. I think I need to work on the mental aspect of the race.

Event comments:

I look forward to doing this again next year.

Performance: Good
Ok this is how it looked. I really thought I took off easier than I did, but then.... Mile 1 - 8:22 (How did I do that?) Mile 2 - 9:32 (that was the pace I wanted) Mile 3 - 11:37 (I think I see a pattern here.) Final .11 - 53 sec. maybe a little less
Course: Course is an out and back course, starts out down hill and ends up hill. Hills really were not that bad, per the garmin about 100 feet down and 100 feet up. Nothing really horrible. It was all on pavement. They only had 1 drink station, at the turn around. I would have liked a 2nd one some place on the way back.

Nice race!  The heat and humidity have been enery sappers this week!!!!  And that darn running buddy.  You are going to have to have a serious talk with him about pacing.
