WTF is the matter with people? Another classic example of "as dumb (and frighteningly racist) as we wanna be.... "

I can't help but shake my head at the stupidity, and be disgusted by the blatant racism and complete ignorance displayed over this situation.

"He doesn't LOOK American" Seriously, WTF is wrong with people?? Ugh.

Hey aren't you canadian? What are you doing in our racist Americans thread?

But really, racism will never die, because some people will always look for others to blame for their own situations and who better than someone who doesn't look like them?

It's true, I'm a foreigner!  But a legal foreigner with a Green Card and everything... and I "look American", so I'm okay.

What's funny is that people often don't see the Japanese in his looks until he points it out.

On the other hand, when I was at the beach in Chicago one day last summer I had someone tell me to "go back to where I came from" once they found out that I was Canadian.  So... that was awesome.

Whats the problem?

I've gone to see Toronto Maple Leaf's, Blue Jays games, etc. and it has been an American singing the national anthem....whats the big deal?
As long as you know the lyrics not sure what the problem could be.....the singer is paying honour to what the lyrics stand for.

Now seeing someone sing the National or Royal Anthem and mumbling through the lyrics....thats offensive....american, canadian or whatever.....make sure you know the damn song! lol.

Well in fairness, we have been a bit angry about Bieber and Nickleback.

As a matter of fact, some of the best Americans that I have ever met were actually Cubans not too long ago.

Twitter at it's finest.  Not trying to defend these idiots, but I suspect you can find twitter comments all over crazy land for just about any singer at any event.

I remember a big racist uproar a while back when the kid sang the National Anthem during the NBA finals wearing traditional Mexican clothing too.  Thought that "outrage" was pretty stupid too.

The irony in all this is that another singer who grew up in New York City and sang at the All Star Game is the son of immigrants -- Neil Diamond.

What is even more amusing is that Marc Anthony's parents are from Puerto Rico, meaning they have ALWAYS been U.S. citizens, whereas Neil Diamonds immigrated from Poland and had to become citizens. I didn't see the twitter outrage when Neil sang `Sweet Caroline!' (As an aside, Monica took me to see Neil in concert at the O2 arena in London. The ol' guy's still got it!!!)

You've missed the point Tony.

Neil looks like me

Marc Anthony does not.
