Comments:

Swim could have been a little faster. My goal was to have a 34/35min swim.
The first couple hundred meters went great. I settled into a pretty good pace and was able to pass the slower swimmers from my wave. Around 500m or so I started to catch up to packs of swimmers from earlier waves. There after it seemed like I was catching one pack after another. I had to stop a few times to look for open water so that I could swim around them, as the groups spanned a few swimmer wide.

Comments:

Legs felt really good. Didn't take me very long to get my running legs. Only took in one cup of water as my stomach started feeling a bit upset after the water, so I decided not to take anymore in and risk having to walk the run.
Goal was to maintain a pace of 8min p/mile so I was very happy with a 7:55 mile avg.

Event comments:

The race went better than planned. I set a 22min PR on the course, 14mins off the bike and 8mins off the run. Taking a week or two off and then it's back to training for the half mary in October.

Hi Lukasz, congratulations on your excellent time in the race. I had thoughts of seeing you in passing on race day but it looks by your speed our paths never even came close.

You were right about the hills. I regularly ride lots of hills and 700m of climbing is typical around Penticton but the hills were a lot harder than I've ever ridden. Even my workout buddy said he'd rather ride up Richter than do the Lake Stevens hills again. My bike computer says I climbed 712m on the bike and that we rode grades up to 20%.

I thought I was prepared but I realize now I wasn't but I did finish and I had a lot of fun. I'm now considering an Oly at Cultus Lake in Sept.
