Wondering what most of you train in?

Do you simply wear whatever swim trunks or do you train in at least your tri specific shorts?

I used to wear jammers but when everyone eyes' in the locker room averted me, I noticed that I became one of "those" people. Never tried, nor will I ever try, a speedo though Decided to switch to swim shorts. Figure if I practice with drag from the swim shorts, that I'll do better on race day when I wear something better.

Jammers.

Speedo Endurance.

I feel hardcore, even though when it comes to swimming, I'm not.

Jammers, square legs mostly but I have a decent addidas brief that I wear on its own sometimes. I grew up wearing briefs and jammers were not common until the late 90's I was wearing them as early as 96 in training.

I don't think my gym would appreciate me showing up in swim trunks.

I'm not exactly slim, and I wear jammers. I couldn't really give a what people thing, unlike the GTL Lunks, I'm here to workout, not put on a show.

I have two main training suits; a drag suit and a pair of jammers. Both are poly which is what you want your training suits made of as they will stand up to the chlorine much better than lycra. If you are wearing your tri shorts regularly in the pool, they will very quickly fall apart or become see through.

Polyester jammers or square leg types. Always from swimoutlet.com.

Jammers. Who cares what others think. I felt a little self conscience the first time I put them on and wore them to the pool, but the more I looked around the more I noticed that jammers and square legs were actually more the "norm" then trunks. Now this is at L.A. Fitness at 4:30am, so there really aren't many "recreational" swimmers there, everybody swimming at that time of the morning seems to have a purpose.

With that said, if i trained at a local pool in the afternoon when there were tons of people around, I would probably feel a bit self conscience about showing up in jammers, but that probably wouldn't last long and again, who cares that they think.

Jammers here too.  I wear them until they are ready to fall apart.  Going on 16 months of constant pool usage and my TYR jammers are still holding together.

With the kids at the local pool, then I wear a swim suit.

Really want to start sporting a Speedo though.  I own one and my wife thinks is looks ridiculous.  LOL.

Speedo wearer here! My wife hates speedos, too, but she isn't at the pool when I am swimming laps! Most comfortable way to go.

I swim in my neighborhood pool. If I get up early enough, I have the pool all to myself & I wear jammers. Anything after 10AM and I am in regular swim trunks because that's when the stay at home moms start showing up with their kids. Not that I'm self conscious...I look good in my jammers! It's just that I live with the people at the pool & see them every day. No need to tempt them!

swim specific/chlorine resistant jammers. Most tri shorts will melt in chlorine over time. the swim/pool specific jammers (like speedo endurance) last many times longer in chlorine and are made for that. In my opinion, you can't swim efficiently with board shorts/traditional suits for a man. Too much drag.

Speedo, I don't really worry about what every else thinks. If I did, I would be running in knee length basketball shorts and askin tight under armour shirt on the treadmill.

Jammers, always.

I really don't pay attention to what others wear and I never imagined that somebody would care about what do I wear for my training purposes nor that there was some sort of etiquette for the pool depending on the time of the day.

Some anaerobic training is essential. You will need to have some speed to break out of the pack, turn a buoy at a proper angle, or to lose the annoying swimmer behind you that's grabbing your ankles.
