I would not want that problem - I've got enough work strapping my middle-aged boobs in place, but they aren't as personal

The boobage and junk in this trunk are secured in a TYR suit when at the pool and in a TYR suit AND wetsuit at the lake.

I rinse out the suit afterwards (and occasionally wash it in the machine) and it's lasted me upwards of 3 years now.

When I first started, I wore out a pair of tri-shorts real quick in the chlorine. Only did that once! I tried a few pair of jammers but switched to the short poly square cut trainers. Not much material difference between those and the skimpy speedos but somehow I can't imagine making that leap. For fooling around, or for when I want drag, I use some longer board shorts with pockets and string ties hanging out.

is there a difference between speedo jammers and basic spandex tight-shorts?

The jammers are usually tighter and come in 2" size increments vs S/M/L/XL. If you get the poky based suits they last longer as well.

Swim briefs - or speedos. And by the way to those who get "looks" on the beach: Briefs are dominant the fashion on italian beaches, all of us wearing speedos are really just up to the fashion trends.

Briefs are great also under a wetsuit, jammers or trishorts may crawl up when you try to get the suit on.

Never tried, nor will I ever try, a speedo though Decided to switch to swim shorts. Figure if I practice with drag from the swim shorts, that I'll do better on race day when I wear something better.

Sure swim trunks add drag that could help you when you are not wearing them but in my experience they also affect balance. This differs from an actual drag suit which doesn't sem to affect balance.

I swim in board shorts. Not because I'm afraid I'll be one of "those people" but because I'm cheap. I have plenty pairs of board shorts so why not. They add drag right?

I wear jammers for training. At 5:30am there aren't many people there in anything other than that.

I train almost exclusively in Gold's Gym compression shorts. They are made of neoprene like a wetsuit, cut like jammers and are only $10. It was a recommendation I read here many months ago and works great for me.

Some anaerobic training is essential. You will need to have some speed to break out of the pack, turn a buoy at a proper angle, or to lose the annoying swimmer behind you that's grabbing your ankles.
