Subject: OWS in Tampa Area
Gonna have the time to get in an OWS somewhere in the Tampa/St Pete are on Saturday. Have sufficient time to go anywhere I want. I'm thinking Clearwater Beach or maybe along the Campbell Causeway? Worth driving to De Soto?

Given those choices, I'd go to Clearwater unless you're already going to be close to Ft. DeSoto. Watch out for rip currents if the winds and storms stay the way they have the past few days. Particularly 400-500 yards south of the pier.

For others reading...

The Fishhawk Tri Club has been doing OWS at Lido Beach (Sarasota) on Saturdays, often times followed by a 3-5 mi run. ETA 830AM
Due to the Ft Desoto race this weekend, some of our members will be going to Pass A Grill on Monday AM

I'm going to be staying in downtown Tampa so Clearwater is far closer. With the weather lately would really like to know something about rip currents before I drive out to the beach. Is there any place to get such info in advance?

NM, I found surf reports. Looks like Saturday is going to be a nice day. Jeez, with all this rain hardly seen the sun in weeks...

I would say go with the causeway!!!!! coach Bill does Wednesday night class out there it's a great place to go get a ows. the water is not a deep and it is not scary Park at the boat ramp walk east 100 yards there's a nice inlet Cove just make sure you wave to the boaters to kind of let them know your out there trifloyd.com is his site if your here wednesday.
