My daughter is going in to Children's (at 92nd and Watertown Plank) on Thursday, and we're scheduled to be staying there for a week. Where's good to go for a run in that area? Is there anywhere nearby where I could hook up some suspension trainer straps, jump rope, and maybe throw a sandbag around for a while?

You're close to three parkways. Menomonee River Pkwy (to your north), Underwood (northwest), and Honey Creek (east) are all nice for running. MRP has paved trails for some of it, the rest is on road running. Any of the neighborhoods in the vicinity are nice for running as well.

Head east on Watertown Plank and then Harwood to pick up the Oak Leaf Trail where Harwood ends. The Oak Leaf trail connects MRP and Honey Creek Pkwy. You can make a big loop if you don't mind running on Watertown Plank from Underwood Parkway. Watertown Plank is under construction in this area, but is passable.

Hope all goes well at CHW.

x2 what wibadger says and would also add that the Wisconsin Athletic Club is on Watertown Plank more or less across the street from the hospital campus.  Could probably get a one-day pass if you wanted to swim or run inside.  Across from the athletic club (same side as the club) is a small park-like area where groups do various exercises where you could do misc activities.  Enjoy & hope all goes well for you.

Hi, if you go past the small park area by the Wisconsin Athletic Club(about a 1/4 mile), you will come out to a 2 mile loop with crushed stone. Swan Blvd. runs through it and Hansen Golf course is on the North End. It's a great running path. Just ask anyone at the dog park and they will point you to it.

If you want to throw sand bags, Badger Crossfit is on 62nd & State-it's a great box.

Hope everything goes well at Children's, it's a great Hospital.
