Oooookay. So which day is weigh-in day?

Starting the month out with 121. I'd like to get to 119, or in the least, clean up my eating habits.

Officially, starting August at 221.

August should be a fun Month for me, I have three races planned.(2 *1/2 marathons and a 10k) So my weight goal is aligned with that. I would like to lose 5 this month. Get down to my lowest this year of 215. I will do this with relentless training, and good clean eating. Really concentrating on not eating junk food (means Del Taco, Waba Grill, and Zorba's will not be seeing me this month.)

Anybody want to share their opinion about Carbs pre-race. What do you eat prior to a race weekend? Do you plan the nihgt before out, the day before, the week before?

Haven't changed since July: 232

Goal for August is to get below 230. I'm starting a new way of eating (don't want to call it a diet) so we'll see how it goes.

I'm not at all an expert, I'm still a n00b so...here's what I've done, which is to increase my water intake and carbs a little two days out, and then the day before more water, more carbs, cut back on protein. I go with cereal, rice cakes (I love rice cakes I don't care what people say!) crackers, a not too big pasta dinner. I change up the proportion of carbs/fat/protein, but don't eat too many more calories, if that makes sense. I have no idea if that's right or wrong though, so feel free to discuss.

As for diet these days...for August I've given up on calorie counting. I've counted faithfully from January to June, but travel made it impossible to count, and I fell off the wagon and just felt burned out by it all trying to do it again in July. I did a lot of binge eating in July and I'm trying to reign that in. I'm doing a no chips, no ice cream thing except on the weekends, and seeing where that goes, since that's where all the binging happens. I'm shocked it's Thursday and so far, so good. That might sound strange, but somehow the all or nothing approach seems to be what works.

You know. So far.

7/31 187.8

8/1 - 185.6

8/8 - 184.6 - I *think* this is right, scale was acting funky this morning but got 3 or 4 readings of this.   Trying to go into IM taper a little light so the lower volume doesn't affect me too much

Bleh.  I feel like I've been stuck in the upper 180's for months now.  I know I have some more weight to loose, Ideally I would like to get down to the mid 170's.  I need to reevaluate something here.  I know my body shape is still changing based on how my pants and belt fit.

I have a OWS race this weekend in Lake Superior (What was I thinking! Its going to be cold cold cold).  Then a longer sprint distance triathlon on the following Saturday.  I really need to focus on eating clean this next two weeks.

Going to be very modest for this month.

I want to get below 187, 186.999 will work for me this month.

I am pleased!  I had a terrible race this weekend, worst race I have ever had (OWS race).  It was a humbling experience though.  I'm not going to dwell on the negatives of it, but focus on learning from the mistakes that I made.

I started using myfitnesspal again on Monday.  I was shocked to see how many calories I was consuming.  It's no wonder that I was not loosing weight.  I am going to try to focus on using myfitnesspal to log everything that I consume for a while.  I am thinking of possibly starting a small group, where we can all be accountable to each other (something in addition to this of course!).  I know it would help me.  Anyone interested?

Sure, I am interested in an accountability group. Have you tried livestrong.com as a calorie counter, or what do you like about my fitness pal?

Let me know?

I have not.  I am not a huge fan of any of the trackers, but I need to use one.  I am more interested in tracking my caloric intake.  I know that myfitnesspal WAY overestimates amount of calories burned.  It showed me burning almost 2000 calories for a 1h45m bike ride @ 20mph.

How is livestrong for estimating calories?

Slowly dropping the pounds, that's all I ask, slow and steady!

I use myfitnesspal, it works well for me. It may not be super accurate, but at least it is something to give me a reference point, I try to run a deficit and hopefully overcome any over calculations on calories burned. I haven't been very dedicated to using it lately, but would love to jump in on some more accountability.

I just sent both of you a friend request on MFP.
I will be a little sporadic this upcoming week, taking my daughter to college, Just said goodbye to my other daughter that left with my wife today (twins) both heading to different schools many miles away, Dads a little stressed letting go of his little girls! Got to try and not do any stress eating?

Hopefully the transition goes well for them!  No exercise for me the next two days have a triathlon on Saturday and taking two days off before it.  These are the days I really need to watch my eating.  I don't have the buffer of a 40mile + bike ride for caloric intake.

Accepted both of your requests on MFP

183.4.   Bought a new scale over the weekend, it's been consistently in this weight range, so either I've lost a bit more, the new one reads low, the old one read high

Just went into IM taper mode, and want to race at 185 or less.

BTW I wanted to mention that I use a planner to help with my meals. it is free and has apps too.

www.pepperplate.com.

I love it because you can import from most food websites easily. it creates shopping list easily, and I usually plan out my entire week.

If anybody uses anything else, let me know, because I have fallen in love with myfitnesspal.com LIVESTRONG is gone.

Weighed in at 196! MFP seems to be working.

This is going to be a tough weekend, at the lake house plenty of chances to eat but plenty of chances to workout.

John I'm going to have to check that out thanks for the tip. We have a small group on MFP your welcome to join us.

I want to join in on this group next month... Or right now. I'm doing my first tri in over three years, and I've put on 25+ lbs. I'm hoping to lose a pound a week in the next 5 weeks before the race.
