Event warmup:

N/A
Swim
  • 34m 14s
  • 1500 meters
  • 02m 17s / 100 meters
Comments:

I was a little tired but felt like I went through the swim pretty well. I was able to stay calm and stick to my stroke.
What would you do differently?:

Get into my groove with the bi-lateral breathing. This will be crucial for Louisville.
Transition 1
  • 01m 29s
Bike
  • 1h 23m 38s
  • 27 miles
  • 19.37 mile/hr
What would you do differently?:

Not push so hard on the bike so I have a little more left on the run.
Transition 2
  • 01m 14s
What would you do differently?:

Almost fell off the bike when dismounting. Need to take my time and ensure I have my balance.
Run
  • 54m 23s
  • 10 kms
  • 05m 26s  min/km
Comments:

I didn't have as much left in the tank after the bike so I just tried to keep my cadence high and my stride short as best as I could.
What would you do differently?:

Change the settings on my watch to show real time pace instead of the segment average.
Post race
Warm down:

Two bottles of water and a regular Coke in a can. Some light stretching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Riding 100+ miles on the Friday before and swimming the day before.

My first triathlon was at age 56. At first I was just the cameraman at my daughter's first triathlon, then I am doing the races that she has done.

Knowing where the fluids are, how they will fit on your bike, how much to reach for, and when to reach for it should be understood prior to ever setting foot on the course.
