Guys

I need your feedback on fueling for cycling 100+ miles. I used to use Perpeteum solids , 3 tablets every hour. In my last
century I noticed in my last few hours the taste starts to repel and i am reluctant to use it therefore i used Gu. I am now
considering on my next bike ride to use Gu or Hammer gel for variation of taste.

I need your feedback guys regarding how can this change affect me will my energy not be enough or ill be fine using Hammergel
or Gu every 45 mins? are there other options out there? let me know please?

Thanks

Carl

I just finished a 125 mile ride on Saturday, with a mixture of Gu and Gatorade and I was fine for the most part.  I started to bonk a bit at mile 115 or so, but 125 was my longest ride I have ever done.  I was consuming about 200 cal/hr.

I always use Gu, sometimes hammer gels on my workouts I find, at least for me they give me the most energy and quickly at that.

Honestly though you will need to try it out, what works for you may not work for me.

Something every 45 minutes is usually about right but you will only know once you try it. If you take a few more gels than you need then you have a little extra if you find they are not giving you enough energy.

I like Heed in my water(1 scp per bottle= 100cal) I carry spare scoops to refill when I refill my water. I eat 1 perpetum solid every 30 minutes for the first 3hrs then 1 gel for hour 3-4. then start over. usually keep a hammer energy bar for emergency but rarely eat it. The heed/ perpetum give me about 167cals/hr (I'm on the lighter side 150# 5'10", and my century rides are in my zone 2 HR)So if you're heavier and riding with more intensity you would probably need to adjust.
