I can see wrapping my head around 30 Oly's in 30 days but not IM's.  I wonder if anyone will die trying.

The guy that I know, he's done the Double Deca a few times (20 x IM distance)

it seems quite crazy...how would you even train for it ?

I would show my support by drinking a bottle of wine everyday for 30 days. Courage. Strength. Focus. With training, it could be done.
Damn, though... in all seriousness that's a daunting task. Hats off to anyone who even tries.

10 laps on the swim, 45 laps on the bike course, 21 laps on the bike course every day... it'd be mind numbing by Day 3 at the latest.

Good grief. Honestly, what's next? Do an ironman while nailed to a cross? Run a marathon while on fire?

Who is the person you know that is doing the race, I'm curious to see if I know him. I completed the Deca Ironman in Italy in 2011 and going to attempt the Triple this September. The motto of the race is "What is the limit", I have a feeling we will all have that question answered somewhere over the 30 day period.

Quite possibly the craziest thing I've see. Once a year kicks my behind. 30 in a row is unthinkable.

I have heard about him quite often but do not know him personally. It will be interesting to meet up with him next month.

Best of luck to you and Chet.  I've met and talked with Chet a few times and he's a really cool and positive guy.  He can talk your ear off at times if you let him though...LOL.

I think the motto of the race is fitting.  I honestly think it was set up to be so insane that maybe nobody, or only a handful of people finish all 30 days.  But everyone will leave knowing what their limit is.  To even make it past day 10 would be a huge accomplishment.

Agreed. If we're talking 30 Irons in 30 days, let's at least make a tour out of it! Lots of beautiful country to see in Italy (and most of Europe at that distance!).

During the race there will be plenty of opportunities to exchange bottles, so I'm thinking about going with the aero bottle and Gatorade bottle and fill up as necessary. What should I do?
