Remembered this thread yesterday at Timberman 70.3 when I was crashing with one more lap of the run to go and just couldn't stand the thought of another Gu or Chomp. I highly doubt I would have tried the Coke had I not read this, but I grabbed one every chance I got through the next 7 miles and it worked great. Thanks.

it might be more of a mental switch.
I have NO idea how I powered back the last 8 miles, but coke was my friend that whole segment.
it does seem to have an effect whether real or not, if you believe it helps..it probably does.

I can train for half marathons on pavement and on trails, but as soon as I change it up to gravel or loose dirt my knee swells and the pain it causes is unreal. Any ideas why this happens?

After a hard workout, I really like having a Coke or Pepsi. How bad is this for recovery and for my health? Should I stop drinking orange juice because it is loaded with (fattening) carbs and sugar?
