Age Group Rank = 9/20
Pre-race routine:

didn't sleep to well, which i never do a day before a race. but had a bagel w/cream cheese and water. headed to the race with matt, john, isabelle.
weather wasn't good at all alot of thunder/lightening/RAIN, i was very certain they were cancelling the race, but matt being the optimistic person he assured me its going to clear up and we are racing.
Event warmup:

took a short swim so i can get used to my TT uniform that i just got, i usually swimm with my wetsuit, but the water was 81 degrees.
then stretch for abot 10-15 min then just hung out, helped my twin out since it was her first DU.
Swim
  • 19m 16s
  • 880 yards
  • 02m 11s / 100 yards
Comments:

my swim i felt, i did loose my watch within the first 1/4 mile swim. got swam into alot and i swam into a few people myself, but i just wanted to get into a rythm
What would you do differently?:

i wouldn't do anything differently with my swim, i felt like i had a good swim
Transition 1
  • 02m 15s
Comments:

my transition was good i decided to ride with w/out socks on, it was alittle hard getting into my shoes.
What would you do differently?:

i wouldn't do anything differently
Bike
  • 54m 2s
  • 16 miles
  • 17.77 mile/hr
Comments:

as i was riding into the 6 mile i was feeling sluggish, did take my gu and drank alot of water.
What would you do differently?:

i need to do hill workouts, felt like those false flat hills were hard for me.
Transition 2
  • 02m 1s
Comments:

since i didn't bike with my socks on, well i felt like i need to put my socks on for the run, that slowed my transition down, feet were to sweaty to get the socks on fast.
What would you do differently?:

i would like to see how it would feel running without socks, but otherwise i felt it was an average transition, it wasnt by best
Run
  • 28m 6s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 02s  min/mile
Comments:

okay...i'm NOT HAPPY AT ALL WITH MY RUN, actually i'm depress about it, b/c of me being injured within the last few months, i havne't been running as good as i like to. my times have been going up and up. and when i started training for my Tri season i knew my run was the strongest and now its the weakest of the three. but i know i can still race, but again i know i can do better but this knee issue is really bringing me down!!!!!
What would you do differently?:

what i would of done differently would of been taking it easy with my training months ago with my runs and not over do it and get injured to where now my run pretty much sucks!!!!
Post race
Warm down:

i stretch alittle bit, then walked back to the truck in POURING RAIN, it was actually kind of fun.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

the hills and my run totally limited my ability to perfrom faster

Event comments:

The race itself was great, alot of voluteers/cops through out the course helping us.
the best was having a member from out TT club jockstrapping us and bringing up post race food...choc and vanialla cake, brownies, fruit, water...and having the members just hanging out and talking while it was raining and alittle cold...loved it!!

try bodyglide and baby powder on your shoes. dries feet out and makes it easy to transition into shoes. used both yesterday and it workedlike a dream.
nice report. dont be so hard on yourself!

<img align='middle' src='https://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/images/emoticons/smile.gif'>Good job, especially considering the knee. I feel your pain, as I have had ITband trouble most of this season. Riding on some rolling terrain will help with those slight inclines!

Michelle, what Matt said.  Don't be too hard on yourself.  You are getting back into it now that your knee feels better.  It didnd't bother you yesterday, right?  So, just give yourself some time to adjust to it...well, a lot of time.  But, you'll be back to where you were.  Don't worry!  I also enjoyed the rain

Your bike leg was awesome!!!!

Looks like taking those reflectors off paid dividends! Dont get yourself down, you've been hurt. it happens.

great job on Saturday....  body glide helps big time when not using socks.   I'll jump on the bandwagon, don't be so hard on yourself.   You had a great race considering your knee issues.  Keep your chin up.
