Can't seem to find a thread about this yet. Anybody get the Garmin Vector. How's it working? Any problems to report? Really interested in how it works with the 910xt. A friend said he had some problems with the vector and the 910xt on his trainer. Interested in hearing overall thoughts on pedal based power.

Not sure if he updated his firmware. i did see that update come out last week. I'll have to ask him.

The DC Rainmaker review was great. But still not much out there on use with the 910xt. I've been waiting and waiting for the Vector, but the price is kind of high. I have found a place to get a 20% discount on the Vector. Just need to make sure they company honors the discount code on the Vector.

DC Rainmaker is coming out with a "full" review within the next month. Is this too long to wait?

Considering some people have waited for the better part of 4 years already...what's another month?

I would never make a PM purchase (from a new company entering the PM market) without a DC rainmaker review.

Especially if you already have a crank that it works with.

Been waiting for this and am kind of disappointed with the price. Once they start selling online, we might be able to get a them a few bucks cheaper. My LBS has them in stock and posted as such on Facebook yesterday. Nearly all the comments were pertaining to price.

My other big hangup, besides price, is the Look pedal platform. I have only ever used Speedplay and as a noob, I like them. I just start pedaling and my cleats naturally clip in without looking (pun?). Are the Looks any harder to get clipped in at the start?

Look-type pedals are easy enough once you get used to them.

The higher priced ones will always fall toe up so you just slide the bottom of your shoe's toe forward on them so your cleat catches the toe and as you start putting pressure on the pedal, they'll click in.

The cheapies, 540s for Shimano, don't have the "fall toe up" weighting so you have to screw with the pedal if it's not already in position.

Didn't that happen last week with their $500 price cut or you want lower than that?

They need to be about half the price they're charging before most of the people I know will even look at them.

ST probably has a couple/few people who have bought them.

Most of those 20% discount codes have exemptions for Garmin products. At least they have had them when I tried at places like REI. Hopefully you have better luck.

The really BIG question is:

Who is going to be the guy that puts a Stages meter on a Quarq and uses Vector pedals and a PowerTap?

If your looking for a PT for the trainer I would strongly consider a wired unit from E-bay. I bought one last week for $100 with a 9 speed Ultegra cassette. The bottom has fallen out of the wired market for sure

Several years ago there was talk about the Vector being under $1000. At $1699 it is way out of my price range, if they drop the price to under $1000 I would look more seriously at buying it.

I thought the price would come in above PT but below Quarq. Guess we'll see what the market will bear.

While most do not think about the actual vector breakdown involved in the cycling stroke and where the power is applied in detail, when you finally do think about it, things become clearer.
