I don't know how the lineman who gave the double fingered salute to the crowd last week got off with just a stern talking to though. That should cost him at least a half, if not a game. Somehow I think he would have gotten exactly that if this week's game was Florida A&M. |

Master 1585 Folsom (Sacramento), CA | Subject: RE: Anyone else looking forward to college football? Theoretical question: If Missouri beats Auburn on a last second field goal, does Alabama really deserve to go to BCS game for sitting on their butts this week while Auburn plays because they beat Alabama to win the division? By the way, anyone watching NIU/Bowling Green tonight? NIU has their hands full. |

Not to put words,in matt's mouth, but I think his scenario is that FSU and OSU both lose, then Bama would play against the SEC championship game winner for the national championship. Then let's pose his "theoretical" question: If Missouri beats Auburn on a last second field goal, does Alabama really deserve to go to BCS game for sitting on their butts this week while Auburn plays because they beat Alabama to win the division? I would answer that with another question: Who would be more deserving?

Pro 15655 | Subject: RE: Anyone else looking forward to college football? I think Alabama is a great team.....but I think if the winner of Mizzou/Auburn gets into the National Championship by way of a loss by either FS or OSU, then the loser of MIzzou/Auburn should get the SEC's BCS bowl bid. They will have won one of the SEC's divisions while Bama has not. That's just the breaks of the game in my book. Edited by Left Brain 2013-12-07 10:31 AM |

Elite 4564 Boise | Subject: RE: Anyone else looking forward to college football? Bear on an iPad not sure how to quote. Looking at Alabamans schedule they have 2 wins over teams ranked in the Bcs top 25. Their best win is vs #15. Not very impressive I'd say. If okst wins today they have 3 wins vs bcs top 25 along with a conference championship. Best win vs #9. |

What has Alabama done this year to make themselves more deserving? I know that's what it will be, but I disagree. My thought is this, Auburn beats Alabama to push themselves into the title game. If Mizzou beat Auburn, how does that now make Alabama more deserving? Should it now be Missouri - Auburn - Alabama? That's what the game results would seem to say. |

I'd agree that Bama is less deserving than Missouri under your scenario. If one of the top 2 teams loses, the other plays the SEC champ regardless. Should both of the top 2 teams lose, who is more deserving to play the SEC champ for the BCS? I know you guys would hate another all-SEC BCS Championship, but who would you have as Mizzou's opponent if not Alabama? A two-loss Stanford or OKST? Baylor? Flip FSU or OSU back into the BCS Championship despite the theoretical loss? |

Flip FSU or OSU back into the BCS Championship despite the theoretical loss? I was more looking at the situation where 1 and 2 win this week. Winner of the SEC championship gets a slot in the sugar bowl and everyone is assumning that Alabama gets the other SEC slot. My question is why should Auburn, if they lost close, fall below an Alabama team that didn't have to play this week and hasn't beat a top 15 team this season? I hate seeing teams, such as Auburn, get punished for winning their division by getting bumped out of a BCS by the team the beat in the regular season. Congratulations for beating Alabama, your prize is a game against a top 5 opponent, and if you lose, we are giving your spot to Alabama. Same thing happened to Mizzou in the Big 12 a few years ago and could happen to Stanford with a loss. Edited by uclamatt2007 2013-12-07 5:43 PM |
