The new route looks a little more like a hammer and a lot less like a penis

Old course:

New: http://www.mcmlocator.com/map

I should have made a poll to see if you all welcome this change or not.

Yes. Yes, I do. I'm really torn though because there are just so many directions to take it... and I've actually run the old course and lived in DC, so there's the boring, old actual comments about the course change I could make. Tough call;)

Overall, the course looks rather limp, but there's a section there for about 3 miles that it straightens out and heads deep into Washington. Or am I looking at a different miles 17-20 than you guys are?

No, it's the same.  It probably depends on how you're orienting.  However, 17-20 does not go due north.

Sure, there are alternate routes, but (with the exception of Salty here) I'm gonna guess the preference is the most northerly route.

hahahahaa! You're funny. Probably nothing worse than what would have happened if they had seen me go #2 in a bush at mile 13 last time I did it.

And yes, I *could*, but that's no fun.

MCM is my favorite marathon. The Marines and crowd support are simply amazing.
