Sunny
Total Time = 2h 37m 59s
Overall Rank = 315/1422
Age Group = M30-34
Age Group Rank = 42/140
Pre-race routine:

The alarm went off at 3:00am and I had a couple of cups of coffee, ate breakfast, loaded the car annd headed to Boulder by 4:00. We got there at 5:00 and felt like we were late. There were already a bunch of people there.
Event warmup:

Set up my transition and took a short jog. I felt rushed and didn't feel like I had enough time to properly warm up.
Swim
  • 26m 11s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 36s / 100 yards
Comments:

This felt like a horrible swim. I couldn't get into a rythem and there seemed to be people all around me. I felt really tired very quickly. The time seems a lot faster than the performance felt.
What would you do differently?:

Not much, I simply felt like I had a bad swim.
Transition 1
  • 01m 54s
Comments:

I was slow getting my wetsuit off.
What would you do differently?:

I'm not sure, this is a re-occuring problem.
Bike
  • 1h 16m 29s
  • 26.1 miles
  • 20.48 mile/hr
Comments:

For some reason my HR spiked on Old Stage and it felt like my chest was going to come apart. My legs still had power, but my HR was my limiter. This is not very common for me on the bike and it really isn't normal for Old Stage. I'm not sure what happened. I also some time on the descent given my weight and ability to work well with gravity, but so did everyone else.
What would you do differently?:

Train more for climbing!
Transition 2
  • 01m 33s
Comments:

I chose to run this one with socks so it slowed my T2 a bit, but it made the run much more comfortable. I also took a few seconds to down a little gatorade before the run. It seemed to work as I didn't feel dehydrated for the run.
What would you do differently?:

Not much, I didn't force the effort too much.
Run
  • 51m 50s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 08m 21s  min/mile
Comments:

This run hurt, but it was fast for my ability. I would like to be faster but I have to be patient.
What would you do differently?:

Run more!
Post race
Warm down:

Watched for Jen to finish and then had a couple of beers with the BT crew.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Overall training time. I've only been doing this tri stuff for a little over a year so I can't complain too much.

Event comments:

They put on a good race!

You don't even mention that you PR'ed the run? Come on man, give yourself some credit - you've been working your off for that. However, I don't mind the other minor point that was left out. Something about the discrepancy between our times. Just kidding. You had a pretty good race and looked strong on the run when I saw you.

I think you had a great race. You are my compatriot in never being happy with the run, so I feel your pain there. I know what WE will be doing this winter!!!  Running. A little more running. And some more running to top off that running.

You were awesome!  Every race cannot be the best ever.  That one would be pretty close!  Good to see you and Jen!

Really?  That's the report after a PR on the run?  Maybe adjust your expectations or something, I don't know, but you've got to find something positive out of that race.

I did finally beat Ryan though!

I have a strong feeling he's going to make you pay for that comment at the half!

GREAT race!  Nice to meet another BT face.  Sorry I wasn't hanging with the crowd much!

I know you felt like crap, but the time doesn't show it!
