I'd like to jump into the group as you start a new month.

I'm Jeff from Minnesota. I just started exercising about 3 weeks ago with the goal of dropping some lbs. I'm soon to be 35 and started my weight loss journey at 6' and 208 pounds. Overall, I'm hoping to stay at 6', but drop the weight to somewhere in the 170s. Once I get there, I'll re-evaluate to see if that's where I want to stay.

So far my triathlon preparations and overall decent eating have been working as I'm down 7 pounds. Hoping the trend continues.

September 1 weight = 201

September 30 goal weight= 195

I'm 5'10 and 44 years old. I'm down 31 pounds since mid April. I met with my nutritionist on August 30 and weighed in at 197 @ 22.1% body fat. My goal for September 30 is 193 @ 20.4% body fat. That's a 4 pound fat loss while maintaining the lean mass.

I have one more sprint on September 14, however, I'm pretty much in an off-season mode. This year, I've completed 5 sprint distance, 1 mini sprint trail, and 1 Olympic. I've decreased the running and swimming and increased weight training and cross fit. Hope to achieve a race weight of 180 with 15% body fat before beginning a 20 week HIM program next April. I plan to focus on strength training through the new year.

I'm in! I am 172 this morning, and 5'5". I want to be 150 again. I feel good at that weight, and since I put on muscle easily, I don't look fat at that weight. I look at my extra weight as bags of sugar. I have 4 and a 1/2 bags of sugar to lose!

Weighed in at 222 This morning,

Darn 1/2 marathon weekends get me every time, was weighing below 220 last week. But that is no excuse, when I get around a certain set of friends we eat and eat well, uh I mean a lot. Prime rib one night and fondue the next. Let's say MFP yelled at me.

For those of you that are new, a few of us are tracking on Myfitnesspal.com. I use also pepperplate.com and app to help with nutrition and planning of my meals. Feel free to friend me, my username is: zaidnohj Once your friends, I will also join you to our group, I try to post articles and stuff I find there.

Anyhow, My goal for this month is realistically to get below 215 and stay there. This month it should be possible, I am training for LA marathon, I have a century ride in October. No Tris for the rest of this year, but looking forward to setting a goal for either a HIM or a Olympic in April or May 2014.

Alright, I'm in. I could use a kick in the butt. It's been a helleva year.

This was the year I decided to start doing triathlons. So because I didn't know how to swim, I chose to not run a marathon in the spring and really focus on my swimming. On March 5th, my wife went into the hospital with Gullain-Barre Syndrome, was paralyzed from the shoulders down, and spent 8 weeks in the hospital before coming home. While she was there, on April 16th, my dad passed away. See? Told you it's been a helluva year for me. When my wife came home, she needed 24/7 care, so I focused a ton of my time towards that. That being said, it ate into my training significantly. When I did train, I really concentrated on my swimming first, cycling second, and did very little running. Probably no more than 10-15 miles/week, which for me is basically nothing compared the normal 50-70/week I normally did. With that, my weight climbed as I trained less, cared for my wife, felt tired all the time, and ate/drank whatever I wanted. Bad combination.

At the start of the year, my goal was to race at Rev3 Cedar Point and do the half. I decided to put that off until next year and just do some sprints and Olympics this summer. I had fun doing that, but I do feel a sense of disappointment too. I'm very excited for next year though.

I've done the "weight loss" game before. In January 2009, I went into my second ACL surgery at 5'11", 240 pounds. I got serious about my health, turned my rehab into more than just about my knee, and by June '09, I was at 176. By April 2010, for my first marathon, I was 150. But I think I went too far. I felt fabulous, better than I ever have. But that weight was too hard to maintain, so I relaxed my diet a little, but kept running. In fact, I ran more. I learned that I could maintain 160-165 very comfortably and not sacrifice performance on race day.

Now I'm angry with myself at how far I've let it slip, bordering on depressed, which leads me to moments of just not caring, which just continues the cycle of starting to lose a few lb's, picking them back up, dropping, gaining, etc.

So, time to get after it...again. I weighed in at 197 this morning. OMG, blech! My goal for September 30th is 185. That may sound like a lot for that short a time, but from experience I know these are the "easy pounds" for me. These, if I can maintain some discipline, should melt off with no problems. Especially now that tri season is essentially over, and I'll begin putting in a lot more running miles. Instead of my time being split 40% swimming, 40% cycling, 20% running, it'll be more like 80% running, 20% swimming/cycling.

Assuming I make it to 185, my goal for October is 175, November 170.

I will contribute as much as time allows me to. Like I said, I've done this before, I was successful (I think), and I learned a lot in the process. If you want to pick my brain a little, please do. I'm happy to share.

I'm in for this month. Here's to a new start.

I'm Vivian from Maryland and I've been at this weight loss thing for 3 years. Started doing triathlons in August 2011, with an Irongirl sprint tri. Got hooked and added two more sprint races in 2012, two Olympic and two sprints this year. My times are improving, but the weight is not coming off.

Today I'm 5'6" and 175. By the end of the month I'd like to be at 170. Using MFP to track calories, about 1200 per day. Also attempting to work out 5 x week. Went for a swim this morning, 1500 yards in the pool. I can use the accountability of this group. Let's make it a good month!

I would like to jump in too.

Once i was 440lbs in 2007. I have got down to 230lbs at my lowest. Basically the last 2 years i have bounced from 230-270 and i would really like to break through.

Right now im on the downward swing at 250. Work stress really seems to make me increase in weight and i am working on new ways to deal with it.

I would like to get down below 220 by next spring. I have failed many times but i am not going to give up.

Right now i am back to using myfittness pal to log as i cant afford Weight Watchers anymore

I am looking for other people to help. All my friends on this site seem to have vanished after about 3 years so i am looking for new ones.

Im on MFP add me jhall260 We have a small group started for BT, it helps a lot to see the feeds of others to stay motivated!  at least for me it does.

To add friends w/o email this is the only way that I know how to do it; go to the non mobile site, go to the friends tab, click on the email tab (I know sounds counter intuitive) there will then be a tab that says 'find members'.

hopefully that was clear enough.

Starting this month off at 187.8 up one pound from last week.  It was a beer fueled weekend, with lots of snacking.  I'm not to upset, I'm already back on the wagon - hey we need to live a little.

MFP seems to be helping a lot.

Goal for this month 184.

Lurker that has hit a stall here...

Started the year at 300 lbs, worked my way down to 230, then taper, recovery and life brought me back up 15 lbs. Quick on for me usually means quick off if I get on it, so my goal is to be back to 230 by the end of the month. Ultimate goal is 200 by the end of the year, but that may be a bit aggressive after my August slump. That means I need to log EVERYTHING in MFP and up my training considerably over last month. I don't have any races left for the year, so training motivation is going to have to come from weight loss, building base for IMLP 2014 and hitting my goal of 800 miles on my bike in September.

Good luck to all.

-Mike

Alright, I'm in and a newbie to the site.

I am somewhere around 165, 5'11, haven't weighed myself in a few weeks. Would like to lose about 10lbs - 5 would be awesome. Am thinking it would help my times a bit.

Hopefully this will give me some motivation.
One of my problems is I train and then can't stop eating! I start out with some good post-workout snacks (i.e. carrots/hummus or chocolate milk) and then it all goes downhill. Or I don't train and eat like I did train!

Starting September about where I started August 228, my first and last tri of the summer this Sunday, a half that I trained about 1/3 of what I needed. After that I am going to concentrate on some strength training for a while and hopefully shred some fat?
Time to open up the basement house of pain and make some progress.

Goal for end of September is 220

Good luck everyone

I'm back in this month. Here is my weight history since trying to lose 10lbs:

8/2 - 135.8
8/9 - 133.8
8/15 - 135.8
8/23 - 133.8
8/30 - 132.0
9/6 - 132.8

I'm having the most difficulty with feeling hungry and subsequently crappy - the mental and emotional part of "deprivation"really affects me. Any tips?
