Swim
Comments: I started out feeling okay, but got my goggles pulled off about 1-200 yards in and really got tossed in the mix in general. I was struggling a little in the middle part of the swim - completely psychological. Once things cleared up and I had a straight shot to the beach, I got into a rhythm and had no problem. What would you do differently?: Work on psychological strategies to stay relaxed when things get hairy. Think about starting on the outside. Transition 1
Comments: I jog/walked up the hill to the transition area, so I was pretty slow. We had to take our bikes to the road and mount on an uphill section. I probably should have left my bike in a lower gear, as I had to stand and push a little to turn the wheels and clip in. To make matters worse, the woman just in front of me was having trouble clipping and was swerving into my path, but I clipped quickly and sprinted a little get past her. I took a gel and a shot of my inhaler during the transition What would you do differently?: Leave the bike in a very low gear at the transition. Bike
Comments: I felt a little sluggish and felt like I could have done a little better on the bike if I was feeling better. Still, I guess I can't much complain about 20mph. I got moving along pretty well once I got into it a ways. It starts with a little uphill, but ends in some nice fast rollers. Transition 2
Comments: I took a puff of the inhaler at the transition. Run
Comments: I felt okay during the run. It helped that it was so flat. I felt good about the way I ran the course. I started off at a steady, but not sluggish tempo. I think I probably picked up speed a little as I went along, but finished without enough in me for a sprint. What would you do differently?: Nothing. I think I ran it pretty well. Post race

Oatmeal w/ dried fruit for breakfast. Coffee and energy "chaser" that came in my goodie pack (caffiene and B vitamins). Used inhaler 15 minutes before event and one puff at each transition.
None this time. I swam briefly, but didn't run.
