Pre-race routine:

carbo loaded and waited for the race to start. Ironmans are different from other races I have been involved in. We had to be there early friday and sweat it out until race day on sunday. Times aren't up on the internet so I can't get age group results yet.

Comments:

water nice and warm. sarted to rain a little, but that stooped after the swim
What would you do differently?:

stay more to the outside. rounding the bouys and the end of the first leg were a slugfest.
Transition 1
  • 09m 13s
Comments:

as soon as we got out of the water they had volunteers to pull off our wetsuits. A great thing! Altough the run back to transition felt like a marathon in itself

Comments:

Beautiful course but hard course!
What would you do differently?:

Post race
Warm down:

limped back to my hotel room with a wide smile on my face!

Event comments:

Great Great race! They treat this race like it was another olympics! The whole town gets involved. Tough course for my first ironman but i don't regret it one bit! i also have to give props to the training plan I used here on beginner triathlete. the program worked out great! I finished feeling like I had come prepared for an Ironamn

Congratulations! I agree with everything you said, especially about the people here treating this like another olympics - the support was awesome out there.

Solid finishing time.   Congratulations on accomplishing the umpteen hours of work, sweat and preparation to be able to log that ... and the plan came from BT!

Yup. I looked and looked for a training plan on the internet and couldn't find one that didn't set me back at least $400.00. I come from a marathon background and had no trouble finding free training progrqams( Hal Higdon, great site), but ironman and triathlon programs in general were hard to find at a reasonable price. Got my gold membership here and followed the program. It worked out great!
