Hello! My name is Caleb. I'm from Granite City, IL, just outside of St Louis. I'm 6'1. 150lbs and 21 years old. I've been doing triathlons for close to 2 years now, and I'm addicted! Did my first half (Kansas) over the summer. And training for 2 halfs for next year. My offseason JUST began, I had a quick question as well. I'm getting surgery on my chest in a week and it'll put me out for 4 weeks. How bad will this be for my endurance? Will it take a while to get back to where I was? It's the beginning of my offseason too luckily

Only reason I ask is there was a Caleb who used to swim @ the pool there... not to many Calebs who do tri's in the STL area I imagine...

I'm going off memory of things I've read in the past here, but I think you're endurance won't be affected too much, although you will be slower. You should be able to bounce back quickly, though.

Also, I wanted to say hi because I was born in St. Louis even though I've been in Arizona much longer than you've been alive. Some weekend I need to fly up there and do a race and catch a Cardinal's game.

Welcome to BT Caleb, I also grew up in that area - Belleville, IL. I actually went to SWIC way back when. It was called BAC (Belleville Area College) then. Congratulations on your races and best wishes for a speedy recover from surgery. I know nothing about chest surgery but be sure to discuss your fitness plans with your doctor.
