Hi folks,
I have just been made aware of a course overlap between the Tour de Pink, and Tru tri on Sunday. Hopefully we will not even get to see each other, but we will be on the same course on Joseph Rd., hopefully not at the same time.

Yall have fun!

Wow there is a lot of overlap if I'm reading the maps correctly (I've been know not to).  What moron official let that happen?

Oh you mean Gov't official who approved the permit

Thats alot of Riders from Tour De Pink , atleast more opportunities to pass riders. I am wondering if drafting rules apply if your drafting behind a
non participant

I got the email too. It looks like they got a solution worked out. I'll ask again at packet pick up tomorrow- but it looks like the tour riders will have to stop. Extra caution- but otherwise ok.

Drove the bike course this morning. It looks good for the most part, but there was one sharp corner with a lot of debris on Joseph Rd just before the right onto Macedonia. There were some people out working on cleaning the course though.

Not a lot of shade but a few spots.

Good luck everyone and see you out there! (#25)

If I'm reading it right, overlap is all of the Joseph Rd and Macedonia segments. The 81 & 100 mile Tour de Pink riders should be going that way and have been asked to stop at the Field Store and Joseph intersection. I think the biggest issue might be the sharp right on Joseph before the right on Macedonia.

Be safe everyone.

How did yall's Event go? I was on the 100 mile route, and I only saw 1 rider from the Tri. But it did start late. Feedback is welcome.

We had a blast!!! , We were racing at 20+ mph playing leap frog and all of the sudden a pack of Tour De Pink also at 20 mph merged in our race lane we have no choice but to draft and stuck with the pack until we saw an opening and broke loose from the pack of TDP. It was just for a mile but we were dangerously less than a biker away from each other. The routes should have been checked by those who approved the permits. The Riders should have never crossed paths with the Racers

Trust me, an effort was made. The tri RD went through the Sheriff, and tried to contact the ride director several times, their map was not available online.
It wasn't until Friday when TdP got back with the RD and the RD was told the merge would be minimal and riders would likely never cross.
Clearly this is something that needs to be looked at next year but when the folks in charge of the ride don't communicate that is difficult.

I agree We should not have been on the same course. I'm on the TDP commitee, and we did not know until Friday. I know our Ride director is now in contact with the Race director, so as long as another event does not come into the area on the same day (heaven forbid) I'm sure it will all work out.

I don't have much to compare it too, but I thought the tri rd did a good job. I saw a lot of tour riders going the other way. I got swallowed by a huge group that gave me little space (6" or so) on Joseph, which was the only same way traffic. Probably the same group strykergt saw, but I was at 18-20. They passed quickly, but it was a little tense for me. I know I had adequate room, but riding up on someone without knowing their handling skills strike me as dangerous. I wasn't expecting on your left to refer to a peloton. I was thinking about saying something to the first few about drafting when I realized it was a tour pack.

I think a bad situation was handled well. I don't know what the tour riders were told, but I had adequate info to be prepared. I was very happy with the tri overall.
Results are up on athletes guild.
