Whiteface Uphill Footrace - Run

Comments: I was a bit nervous coming into this race because I did IMMT less than 4 weeks ago and although I felt good the first few weeks following the race my last few weeks I've been feeling worn down. The first 3 miles before you get to the gate to the top of the mountain are the steepest, and I immediately felt my HR skyrocket right from the beginning. Not sure if I was still recovering or it was the immediately running up a mountain part that caused that. Somehow managed to keep it steady the rest of the race despite feeling heavy legged and ended up PRing by 9 minutes! What would you do differently?: Probably do less immediately after my IM so I would hopefully be more recovered. Post race
Warm down: Immediately put on all the warm clothes I brought with me because it was cold! n...and I was n Event comments: Really nicely organized, especially compared to previous years. They even had the awards ceremony at the local festival they had after, which was a nice touch. Aid stations were every mile after the first 3, and the hot chicken broth at the top really hit the spot on a cold day. Last updated: 2013-09-15 12:00 AM
