Anyone else tackling this bad boy? My husband is running this as his first ever HM, and I'm along for the ride. He wants me to pace him to a 2:05. I took 2 entire weeks off after IMMT, and then training has been pretty weak since then. This could be a huge sufferfest. LOL I'm just looking to have fun.

I'm doing it. Signed up the day registrations opened last year... it just sounded too cool to miss it.
I have Deer Creek Fall Challenge Half the week before, and B2B Full three weeks after, so I'm just treating it as a training run with a finisher's medal where I will probably try to get in a second run that day.

B2B Full? Awesome! I want to do that race one of these days. Good luck to you.

Thanks!  I'm not sure that I'll actually be ready to do it or myself justice, but I'll be there and at least start the race.  It is a bucket list race for me, and kinda doubly so with being a Navy vet and that whole battleship thing.

I'm looking forward to the RnR Half... this should be a really fun event.  My girlfriend and a bunch of her running friends are working one of the water stops in Tremont, and my oldest brother, who is decidedly NOT a runner, is doing the "mini-marathon".    Overall, I think it's going to be a really great day.

I just started doing tris this summer and I have two under my belt, both sprints. Is it reasonable to build up for a Oly in early ‘09, with a HIM in Oct of ‘09

I just had a couple of problems, I could count the number of triathlons I had contested at zero. Secondly, I could count on one hand the number of times I had been swimming in the last 17 years.

After you have established the Ironman goal, the most important factor outside of the training is which race to choose? What is your best sort of course, hilly, rolling, flat?

This half Ironman plan covers many weeks of challenging, but attainable training for someone who has some endurance experience, and ideally some Olympic distance races within the past season.
