Subject: Running Routes in Rochester?
I'll be visiting some friends this weekend in Rochester and want to get some running in.

I'm staying at Ridge Rd W and 390. So, from what I can tell, Rte 390 trail is available and convenient.
However, there doesn't seem to be a lot of love for it judging from the Garmin Heat Maps.

What'd I'd really like to find is a nice scenic dirt trail (technical and/or hills OK and loops preferred) in the area with with distances anywhere from 4 to 11 miles.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

I'm not sure of anything on that side of the city, but if you're up for a little drive (25 minutes or so) check out Mendon Ponds park. they should have what you're looking for.

Pete,

Thanks for the input - unfortunately I just didn't have the time to drive to a run destination.

However, Trail 390 was better than expected....
The only negatives were the road noise from 390 and the crazy road crossing at Lake Ontario State Parkway.

I don't see this much green where I live:

I can train for half marathons on pavement and on trails, but as soon as I change it up to gravel or loose dirt my knee swells and the pain it causes is unreal. Any ideas why this happens?
