Just need to practice.
Transition 1

Comments:

Went slowly and kept upright
What would you do differently?:

Practice
Bike
  • 1h 12m 9s
  • 21.67 miles

Comments:

Tried to stay easy. Caught myself getting fast a couple of times. Got caught by a tour de pink peloton. Handled that well. Ride conservatively, which was appropriate for goals.
What would you do differently?:

Push more. Work some hills
Transition 2
  • 01m 14s
Comments:

Felt pretty good about this part.
Run
  • 35m 6s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 11m 19s  min/mile
Comments:

Ran the whole way. Good all things considered, but pretty bad
What would you do differently?:

Run more, work on technique
Post race
Warm down:

Walk around, celebrate with family, talk to Margaret

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of training, being conservative (just want to finish)

Event comments:

Enjoyed race. Good for spectators (park for kids). Overlap with tour de pink was rough but handled well

I'm doing the 22 week sprint tri program and the 2 mile bike ride it starts with is not very challenging. I see this as a opportunity to train the right way and challenge myself. Any ideas?

This past spring I realized a few of us were heading in the wrong direction physically. We were getting together for poker games and kids’ birthdays, but that was it.

The challenge? The accomplishment? I want to do this because it is an opportunity to live life. The event is an indoor sprint triathlon. I get to experience the challenge on a safer scale.

Already a cyclist and not a bad swimmer, I figured all I had to do was build up to running a few miles and I’d be ready to go. The challenge invigorated me, and I ran out to buy new running shoes.

From couch potato to a tri in 8 weeks. It was the most fun I've had in a long time. The race organizers had it down and there were no problems at all. This was the perfect first tri, in my opinion.
