Hey all, my back has been killing me lately, and I was wondering if any of you knew of any good lower back stretches to help loosen it up? Any imput would be greatly appreciated as always.

Regards,

Mike

Mine's sore too lately!  And I seem to be getting it from the pool !!! Perhaps that disqualifies me from replying??

Make sure your hamstrings are stretched as when they are tight they affect the lower back -  plus a tight Psoas muscle tilts the pelvis forward and strains the lower back.

No like I said any advice is appreciated, thanks for the imput, I am seeing my massage therapist tomorrow to get it worked out, so I hope between the two of us we can figure it out. Probably has to do with tight hamstrings though.

Cheers,

I have been doing this core workout for some time and haven’t had a sore back in… Ok I’m not going to say it because it will happen tomorrow if I do..

The core workout and also I find walking a great form of exercise for the lower back. My family has a long history of bad backs so I try and stay on top of it.

Cheers, and good luck.

Not sure of the type of back pain you are having, but have you been keeping yourself hydrated? I heard a fact that 75% of back pain is due to being dehydrated. Drink a lot of water and see if that helps any.

On that note as well watch how fast you start working out after you get out of bed. When you’re lying down your discs swell a little from not having the vertebrae weighting on them. So if you try and workout without giving them some time to adjust you may be more prone to causing problems.

Cheers.
