Pre-race routine:

Daughter not feeling well so i had to do paper route that she was brought home todo for me! No biggy, nice 5 mile ride around town.
english muffin w/ peanut butter.

Wind and rain - Swim cancelled due to high wind, waves on lake Michigan night before.

good, stayed in areo most of time, got slowed down for sprint athletes turn around, but had lots of fun. Will put clips-ons on for next year.

ride road bike more, only trained on MTBing trails.

knees started hurting at 3miles in. but i kept at it. Didn't walk. More running in one day then I was ready for, but for me, I did good.
What would you do differently?:

train at longer distances a few more times. I was ready for 6 miles. adding the 3 miles in the start is what hurt me..i think.

After doing duathlons for the last couple of years, I decided to go for a triathlon. Starting with an Olympic-distance race perhaps wasn't wise, but it was fun (of a sort).

I went down to the beach the day before to scout out the course, and it was glorious...the sun was out, the sea was as smooth as glass, and only a hint of a breeze was blowing. “Perfect,” I thought.
