Subject: First Tri in the books!
I've been lurking here for a while, and rarely post, but thought I'd share that I did my first sprint tri yesterday. NOW I'M HOOKED! Time was 2:00:12. I took the advice I'd read here and not set a time goal, but man I wish I was 13 seconds faster. lol Race was the Atomic Man Sprint in Lenoir City, TN. Here are my stats (for those as curious as I was) and a link to my race report:

Height 6'4"
Weight 280
Age 27
Total time: 2:00:12

Big congratulations on completing your first triathlon!!! Keep going and next time you'll be able to shave those pesky 13 seconds!

Thanks! It made my stomach turn when my wife read my time off the website. I'm glad I did as well as I did, but man I want those 13 seconds! lol

Congratulations! The first one is the hardest. You'll knock a lot more than 13 seconds off on the second one just by knowing what to expect and learning how to manage yourself. Nice job!

I have always been an athlete, growing up playing team sports like basketball and soccer. I also ran in a couple of 10K races every year, so I had no reason to worry about running a 5K...right?

I never imagined that 350 yards broken down into 7 REALLY long lanes would be so big! I gasped out loud and told Grady that maybe I had underestimated the swim.

I am not going to buy a tri-suit before my first tri - I want to make sure I am going to stick with this before I spend a lot of money on it so I want to figure out what will work best.

I couldn't believe that my splits kept getting lower! I started to run harder after I passed the "5 km" sign and picked a few people that I wanted to pass.
