Grindstone 100 :(

I wasnt in for this but had some friends who were and would this suck if you trained for this!!!

Hello Grindstone Runners-

I just received a phone call from the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) Head Ranger for the district in which the Grindstone course operates. I have been told that, at this point, the 2013 Grindstone 100 is suspended due to the Federal Government shutdown. This is something we could not have anticipated and, as you can imagine, we are disappointed. As explained to us, even though access to the National Forest remains open to the public Grindstone, as a special-use permitted event, requires USFS personnel to provide oversight during the actual operation of the event. Unfortunately, the required USFS personnel are included in the ‘shutdown,’ which is causing the suspension of the event.

Currently, we are not able to contact any USFS personnel beyond our initial communication from them and have been told ‘we will contact you’ if and when the Government shutdown ends. At that point in time we will communicate further decisions about this year’s event.

We apologize for any inconvenience this causes but appreciate your understanding and patience as we work through this situation.
