You start moderating your drinking, then decide to quit altogether because it feels better each weekend morning when you get up early to get out and train!

just realized last night that i have 3 water bottles full of water on my night stand next to the bed, i guess in case i get thirsty at any point in the night. always thinking of hydration...

and then i realized that the only reason i get up in the morning isn't just to go train, but to beeline it to the bathroom.

When you come home from a race or a long workout and hook yourself up with an IV of vitamins and minerals to speed recovery ... and think that's a perfectly reasonable thing to do.

. . . when you swim regularly at the university where you teach and on the first day of class one of the lifeguards walks in, sits down, looks up to the front of the room, and exclaims: "Oh my gosh, I almost didn't recognize you with your clothes on" in front of the entire class. You should have seen the looks on the other students' faces. Mine, I'm sure, was a mix of shock and horror as well.

Fortunately it was easily explained and when the students realized it wasn't nearly as scandalous as it sounded, they lost all interest.

when you get a contest entry to win a car, and you turn to your husband and you both say "hey, if we won the car we could sell it and get two new bikes and coaching for both us!"

yeah, I'd rather have a new bike than a new car.

I know exactly what you mean ... I was thinking the other day ... I'm so glad I bought a vehicle last year (also thankful that the Element is sports friendly as well as dog friendly) so I can focus on a bike.

you are on your way to a friends wedding and upon arriving at the grounds of an admitedly stunning country house your first thought is - when can i come back here for a bike ride.

and you are then at the second wedding of the day and you are slowly going crazy so you escape for a swim in between the end of the ceremony and the start of the reception.

Some really cute guy at the gym tells you "nice swim" after you push yourself on one of those crummy swimming days ... you say "thanks" ... he mentions that he prefers to swim outside and you immediately launch into a diatribe about the OWS opportunities that are available to him without ever considering that he might NOT actually BE a triathlete.

....You're in the gym late night to do a swim/run brick and you take all your stuff out by the pool so you can be prepared for the run...haha (stuff being: tri-pack,running shoes,BG,extra goggles, etc). As I am lapping the pool, I can't help eyeing the group of 'older, heavier' guys hanging out in the whirlpool tub next to the pool with paranoid thoughts that one of them might take off with my Triathlon gear.

Next thought...why the hell would THEY even be interested in my gear, duh ?!???!

OR you have TWO bags! One thats BIG for all your tri gear, and one that is small, for your toothursh, antinflamatories and PJs. LOL.

You know your a tri dork when you cut your hair for "maximum speed" in racing and training..actually mostly showering...I cut 6 inches off! I had to adjust my goggles and helmet for the new 'do!

When you go through the checkout at the grocery store with a full cart of food, and someone asks you how many kids you have, and compliments you for feeding them such healthy food. You then respond with, "Um, I'm single. This is all for me..."

They proceed to make comments about your size and say things like, "You can't be serious. Surely at your size you don't eat much!"

Some people will just never understand the cost of combining a high metabolism with triathlon training...
