Total Time = 59m 10s
Overall Rank = 38/92
Age Group = M40-44
Age Group Rank = 4/12
Pre-race routine:

Weekday means work day, so prior to the race I was working all day. Once I arrived at Tempe Town Lake I checked in and changed clothes.
Event warmup:

Some stretching and light swimming just before the race start.
Run

Transition 1
  • 00m
Swim
  • 33m 34s
  • 1500 meters
  • 02m 14s / 100 meters
Comments:

I concentrated on sighting for this swim, as my sighting has always been horrible. It helped, to a degree, but with the sun in our eyes for the first 200m, it was hard to see the buoys. I felt comfortable the entire swim and really had no contact with others, so it was nothing more than a normal day in the water.
What would you do differently?:

Swim faster - always.
Transition 2
  • 00m 40s
Comments:

Fast transition (7th OA)
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, I zoomed in and out of transition.
Run
  • 24m 56s
  • 5 kms
  • 04m 59s  min/km
Comments:

Run went fine. I kept a consistent pace and just plodded along.
Post race
Warm down:

Nothing really - gathered my gear and headed home to celebrate my daughter's 18th birthday.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing in particular.

Event comments:

These are good warm-ups for the bigger triathlons they are scheduled around.
