Swim
Comments: was cold going in to the water and was cold for the swim. never really felt comfortable out there. I knew this was going to be a long day for me. What would you do differently?: more practice in open water Transition 1
Comments: I could not feel my fingers...they were numb. this was slow but I took my time and dried off, put on a gator over my head. It seemed to have warmed up about 10 degrees or so from the start but who knows. What would you do differently?: ? Bike
Comments: I felt I was holding my own as no one was really passing me. Of course, being the 128th person out of 151 there would not be many people behind me. I should have pushed harder. Transition 2
Comments: better than the first one Run
Comments: I was not in to the run at all. My feet were still cold when I started the run. Felt like there were rocks in the bottom of my shoes but it was just the feeling from my feet being numb. eventually that went away but I never felt good during the run. Never felt like pushing it and just kept things manageable. Post race
Warm down: Had a coke and food. What limited your ability to perform faster: I really was not in shape for an Olympic. I registered a couple weeks ago as a beer bet with a friend that lives near Fruita. I lost the bet. The race was the collegiate championship...so a lot of young fast guys out there. This is my slowest Olympic ever but really I'm not all that disappointed...my expectations were low going into the race. I bought beers and paid my bet. Next time I'll be better prepared! Event comments: while I rate this course "too Hard". It's actually a great course other than when you ride by the pig farm...could have done without that! But had I trained properly I would have enjoyed the course more. I was not prepared. Last updated: 2013-09-27 12:00 AM
