Pre-race routine:

Slept as sister's condo, who lives just blocks from race start.
Event warmup:

Up at 6:15, stretch, ate, bathroom, geared up.
Run
  • 4h 26m
  • 26.2 miles

Comments:

Great weather starting, but chilly. Was down to just shorts and T-Shirt by mile 5. Back in jacket after mile 18 as it started raining lightly. Felt rough at mile 19+, felt really rough at 23+, but just told myself not to stop running no matter how much I wanted to.

Pushed myself harder than training to stay under 10 minute miles. Was pretty successful. Unfortunately, this resulted in a side ache almost the entire run.
What would you do differently?:

Not drink so much water in morning. Had to stop for 2 bathroom breaks, which probably added 5 minutes to time. Otherwise, I am satisfied with my race.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked. Recovered very fast. Felt great within 2 hours except for being sore.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Need to train at faster pace to push down my per mile time.

Event comments:

Excellent race. Can't imagine it being organized better.

I signed up for Ironman Frankfurt, next year July - and I am very excited about it. I originally planned to run my first Marathon in the middle of September, but am not sure if this is wise.
