slow transition. had to throw on some extra gear for the cool morning bike ride.

put on my socks ( more to come) and be more prepared for cold weather

more hilly and windy than expected. After about a mile my toes went numb because I forgot to put on my socks. Other than that, I feel was able to pace myself, leaving some energy for the run

It took me about 2 miles to get feeling back into my toes. After that I was fine. A lot of hills running on game trails. It was a fun, but somewhat painful run

Sounds like this years temps were a lot like last year. I agree with you that it is a great course but definitely hilly on the bike and run.

I looked at the swim buoys and start thinking, "Man! How am I ever going to swim that? That looks like a very long distance from the bridge. I have never done it in one go." There's no turning back.
