I'd really like to get a lift foil and wear it in lieu of a wetsuit. What's the coldest water temp you guys would swim with one of these suits? I have a race in about 1.5 weeks and the water temp is between 66-68.

Temp wise? Not really different than any other tri suit in the water. It's just supposed to be a touch slicker in the swim. It's really for speed as opposed to warmth.

As already mentioned, it's a tri suit and offers nothing in terms of warmth.

That stated, it's all relative to the individual.  What one person thinks is cold, another may think is warm.  66-68 degrees is very cold to me.  There's zero chance I'd go without a wetsuit in anything below the wetsuit limit.

Hello -

You can't go wrong with a Liftfoil - especially now that they are marked down 30%! It is true that it doubles as a trisuit, but it lays closer to the skin than a typical trisuit and has our float pad in it so it provides a bit extra buoyancy and it does help to streamline your swim which can increase your speed.

As far as water temperature, that's highly personal.

On another note, if you're looking specifically for warmth, you might want to consider our SpeedTube which is a wetsuit only for your legs, or add a speedvest which is a sleeveless top. The T1s are modular so you have every possible combination for not only this race, but all races.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

That's wetsuit territory for me.  I'd freeze.

That is too cold for me. I would be in a wetsuit. I really like my lift foil tri bibs. The compression is nice.

Whether or you can handle the water temperature depends greatly on the temperature of water you train in as well. If you are acclimate your body to cooler temperatures, it is completely do-able. We have people who swim all winter long in San Diego without a wetsuit (temperatures reach high 50s), but they swim a few times a week with the water getting a few degrees colder each month. And then, some people simply deal better in colder temperatures. I like being warm too!

Don’t forget this is an incredibly big year for sport with the Olympics back in Athens where the modern Olympics started, and especially triathlon to make its second appearance.
