Subject: Looking for advice

HI everyone!

I have my first tri (a sprint) next week and had two questions I was hoping I could get some advice on.

1) How much should I train this week...a few days? small workouts?

2) Friday nights dinner...eat lots? pasta? doesn't matter?

Any help is appreciated.

Bob

You shouldn't be doing much training this week - about 10% of the amount you usually do.  Make sure you do some very light training in each of the three disciplines either the day before or two days before the race to loosen up and then perhaps another couple of very short workouts during the rest of the week.

Pasta, baked potato or anything high in carbs and low in fat the night before is good.  Don't overeat though.  Also make sure you are properly hydrated.

I agree with Danny, but also be sure to have some protein along with those carbs. And be sure to get enough sleep 2 nights before. You wont be sleeping much the night before your first race.

Thanks for advice....I never would have thought about sleeping two days prior. Makes sense that I won't be sleeping Friday night.

 Thanks again!!!

I agree with above.  Also get all your crap ready and have it in the car.  Make a list.  I have a list for home, list for the AM, list for at set up.  It just makes me feel better.  Plan every detail about transitions; what to bring, where to put it, how much to drink...

It will be hard to get much in the way of a warm up in before the race, parking usually sucks, finding everything, set up, marking.  Get there as early as you can, at least an hour to two early.  I have only warmed up with swimming and really dont need anything else.
