Total Time = 1h 11m 55s
Overall Rank = /
Age Group = Clydesdale
Age Group Rank = 4/13
Event warmup:

Hurry up and wait. BOP swimmers have alot of time before they get in the water. Bike corral was crowded early.
  • 10m 35s
  • 400 meters
  • 02m 39s / 100 meters

I can't swim. I am ok with that.
What would you do differently?:

2014 will be better.
Transition 1
  • 03m 11s

#$%*# Tried to slip on Swiftwicks. Backwards to boot. Got me off my game. Worst T1 of the year.
What would you do differently?:

  • 29m 41s
  • 10 miles
  • 20.21 mile/hr

No one to ride with/against. I chased a couple of folks down but they tired. Early season, lots of folks really impacted by the wind which wasn't too bad. No hills on this course which should have resulted in a better mph.
What would you do differently?:

More outside riding early in the year.
Transition 2
  • 01m 36s

Much better that T1. The rack was a mess.
  • 26m 49s
  • 5 kms
  • 05m 22s  min/km

I question the distance,
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of biking strength, swim ability.

Event comments:

Post-race should be better and suprisingly low # of participants when this is the only race in the area for weeks.

When I told my husband that I planned to work toward completing a sprint triathlon, he smiled and was supportive, but a bit disbelieving.

Is it possible for loners to work in a small group and still have plenty of time on their own? Training in small groups can give many benefits.

Inclusion is the key, with elements of the ride fulfilling the training and social needs of 95% of the membership. We have found that course selection, leadership have been the keys.

Tri clubs offer all of us, from beginner to advanced athlete, a venue in which we can realign our perspective of what “fast” and “far” are, pushing us to new and greater heights of performance.

Club or group workouts are very motivating and soon you’ll start feeling like a triathlete, making you less likely to flake out.
