Happy holiday week Manatees!

Thank you for the birthday wishes!  Both Christmas and my birthday went well.  NCSU is closed until the 2nd (heat is off, etc.) so I'm having some relaxation tim at home.  I'm getting a lot of reading done but I don't think that I'll make it to 100 books before the end of the year.

I had to set the alarm today to make it to masters.  Boo!

Chris, what the others said about the screen setup.  I use total distance, average pace, total time and current heart rate.  I use the workouts mode more and more often these days.  I like looking at the maps afterward as well as the other data.

Yanti, what Chris said about if you need anything setting up the new mentor group (or if you need someone else to set it up)

Stacey, you are the Super Shopper!

TJ, great picture!

Ben and Erin, don't freeze your buns off!

Darren, no worries on the cards ;-)

If I weren't on the bad (DL) list I'd try to be on the good (racing) list - there is a race I'd love to do New Year's Eve, the Peepfest 5K in Bethlehem and the HangOver 5K the next day - two days in a row and 2 years in a row, LOL!  Ah, maybe next year.

It was "hot" here at 50+ today. Drops back to 20s/30s until we head back home. If it weren't for ice, I'd run in this 20-40 weather all the time. Well...ice and the fact that I don't live here. Lol

Yep but they were still $150. Shoes are so expensive here.

Yes Erin adrenaline's, I have a grey and blue pair too. Ooooo now that I have 2 pairs of shoes just for running does that mean I'm a runner ?

I'm so sad. I tried to rescue a kitten but it died anyway. Like, in my hands. It was so tiny. Our driver buried it.

My mom's Doberman, Dana, is crazy old rickety so we were reluctant to have her tumors operated on, but one of them went gangrenous so it came off this morning. She's doing great, but is totally freaked out by all the firecrackers so I doped her up with codeine and antihistamine. Vet approved, of course. She was doing fine for pain relief with Rimadyl (which she takes anyway for arthritis) but the cod/phen won't hurt her and will hopefully make her sleep through the ruckus.

Too upset to eat dinner. Not even Pop Tarts. I feel terrible.

Same as the past few years, I'll be at work. I may be done before 12, but probably not until 1:00 am. Year-end processing. yippie.

But, afterward I'll meet TW for breakfast, so that is pretty cool!

Nut'n, honey! The old cereal commercial, get it? Ha ha ha  But seriously, nothing.  The University unexpectedly gave those of us who normally don't get this week off the day off today (follow all that?), so that is nice.

I bought my ingredients for my 'good luck' traditional New Year's Day meal yesterday - Pork and sauerkraut with which I will also make some of the corn we froze this summer, mashed potatoes and I'm not sure what else.  Pork and sauerkraut is the PA Dutch traditional meal - does anyone else have any traditional meals, regional or family that you are going to enjoy tomorrow?

Hockey game and then home for bubbly.

Then up "early" tomorrow.  Gotta get my run in before the Tournament of Roses Parade starts (11 o'clock our time).

Then, on Thursday, rejoining the working world and, hopefully, rebooting the Manatees group!

Oh, it's horrible when that happens.  Once a few years ago I was behind a car that hit a cat near my house.  I stopped and move the cat to the side of the road and it died.  I was a wreck for days.  I kept on hugging my dogs...

In other dog news, we used to have a dog named Penny.  She was a black lab and she was 7 or 8 when we adopted her from lab rescue.  We've been talking about her a lot this week.  She had "old lady" issues and would try to send us back to work if we messed up her sleep schedule.  By this time of the year she would be beside herself -- "Go Back To Work!  I Need Sleep!"  Emma, OTOH, is happy to have us around! ;-)

Near the end of one of my long runs, I noticed my left hip aching. There was a slight pop with each step. The hip was sore for 2 days after the run.
