Tuxedo Brothers
Total Time = 1h 21m 11s
Overall Rank = /
Age Group = Clydesdale Mstr
Age Group Rank = 1/13
Pre-race routine:

Parked in State garage 1-block east of site. Once again early and because of the setup we have to wait for the Olys to clear the water before the Spints go.
Swim
  • 14m 58s
  • 500 meters
  • 02m 59s / 100 meters
Comments:

Water was pretty churned up for the BOP (yuck!). Swimmers were fairly spread out and didn't bump into folks until the last third of the course. Iwas happy to see that there were very few walkers, the canal is 4 to 6 feet deep so this can be an issue.
What would you do differently?:

Learn to swim.
Transition 1
  • 01m 7s
Comments:

Got it done right. Easy straight-shot transition.
What would you do differently?:

Push it. I think I can gain at least 15 seconds here.
Bike
  • 36m 8s
  • 20 kms
  • 33.21 km/hr
Comments:

Saw 2 folks wipe out due to course conditions. The race organizer needs to do a better job of cleaning gravel out of intersections on race day. There is a 2-mile section of this course that is very bad for racing. I am guessing I left 1 to 2 mph on the course due to rough pavement.
What would you do differently?:

Finish better on the swim so I can bike with faster folks.
Transition 2
  • 01m 23s
Comments:

Came in to transition by myself wihich helped.
What would you do differently?:

Run
  • 27m 34s
  • 5 kms
  • 05m 31s  min/km
Comments:

I knew with the # of folks I was passing that this was a good run. Had some pain in my hips towards the end fo the run.
What would you do differently?:

Leave it all on the course.
Post race
Warm down:

Chow down on post-race grub.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

@#$%! Indianapolis streets.

Event comments:

Wait and wait and wait for race results. Tuxedo Bros is the worst for getting race results out.

Won my group! Great day becuase Dad and the fam were there to share.

When I told my husband that I planned to work toward completing a sprint triathlon, he smiled and was supportive, but a bit disbelieving.

The challenge? The accomplishment? I want to do this because it is an opportunity to live life. The event is an indoor sprint triathlon. I get to experience the challenge on a safer scale.

I was passing others who were saying, "Good job, 587" (that was my race number). People were cheering me on. These were the nicest people I have ever been around!

It’s a challenge to push yourself a little harder and a little further. Be proud of every workout that is accomplished and every step-even the baby ones-that you take on this course to the finishline.
