Run
Comments: this was a weird course. Lets see... Start on the beach, run out. Run onto grass. Run around some trees. Go under a cargo net into sand. Hip Hop through some tires. Go up another hill. Go down the hill. Go into the water up to waist (bay water). Go back up an incline, curves a bit. Go into some mangrove swamps with very brackish water up to waist (think snakes and slugs!). The opening was about a foot wide- bottlenecked. Lots of walking here. Now, out of the yucky mud, more mud knee deep. Onto the road. Back onto the grass and around some more trees to the other end of the park. Back towards the start on the beach. There's a hill. The RD thought it'd be cool to throw in five hill repeats! Back onto the beach. And into the water, out to the buoy and back to the beach. Up the beach to the finish line. What would you do differently?: Go faster so won't get stuck in the walking bottlenecks (three or four of them I counted). Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: my shoes weighed about 20 lbs. Event comments: Fun race, always wanted to do one of these. Saw a former BT'er out here, she took pics for me. Bought my best friend and her stepson, they volunteered and I got to race for free. She said "I've never seen people eat so much!" My SLOWEST 5K ever. But the course was tough and lots of walking bottlenecks (traffic jams). Pictures later. Last updated: 2006-07-19 12:00 AM
