Elite 3221 the desert | Subject: 2014 Goals and races Okay folks, 2013 is coming to a close and it's time to start thinking about next year.
What are your goals? What races do you have planned? |

Veteran 267 Avondale | Subject: RE: 2014 Goals and races I am too focused on my "A" race, and first IRONMAN distance, in eleven days, but I talked to my coach, the infamous Frank Sole, about focusing on getting faster and stronger so I do not battle to not be last in my AG. I think a 1/2 Iron distance or two will be my "A" races with a couple of Olys in there 'cause I like to race. |

Member 347 Scottsdale, AZ | Subject: RE: 2014 Goals and races Like Mikey, I'm currently consumed with IMAZ prep. I definitely won't be doing a 140.6 next year but will most likely do a couple Oly's and HIM's. My 2014 "A race" will be the NYC Marathon. Here's my rough 2014 schedule - April 13 - Marquee Oly (Tempe) May 3 - Wildflower 70.3 (NorCal) Sept 21 - Nathan's Oly (Tempe) Oct 20 - Soma HIM (Tempe) Nov 2 - NYC Marathon |

(big question mark on that one) Probably substitute a Sprint for one of the Olys. Also will do Bartlett Sprint unless it conflicts, since I paid for it and didn't get to do it this year. |

Extreme Veteran 502 Tucson | Subject: RE: 2014 Goals and races Well, got my first half on saturday at the HITS in Havasu. So I haven't been too focused. Probably the Deuces Wild in Show Low and the HITS again (that one, I'll consider doing the full distance). Not sure yet. |

Expert 3145 Scottsdale, AZ | Subject: RE: 2014 Goals and races I'm still a bit hesitant to list goals after not reaching some last year but whatever, have to put them out there right.
Dec 31/Jan 1 - enter NYC Marathon Lottery as a time qualifier (hopefully set up by a 1:19 HM at Tucson April - Boston Marathon : sub 2:55 Finish a swim at some point actually feeling good about it and fresh August - Steelhead 70.3 - Top 10 AG Somewhere in there I'd like to go low 36 10k and low 16 5k...pretty ambitious but I think I can do it if I bear down, commit and get my weight in check. That's a year I'd be very happy with and I believe all very realistic. Bigger things could be possible but I'm trying to keep it within reason.

Extreme Veteran 635 Ajo | Subject: RE: 2014 Goals and races I had a successful 2nd half of 2013. I've set goals to improve in all areas, esp. running... I'm decent, but need to lop off 5 to 6 minutes for the HIM races... for cycling, I still got another 5 minutes of improvement over the 56 leg in me. Swimming, well, without a pool in our town... I don't know what to do... I could improve by up to 3 minutes if I had one year round. For 2014 PF Changs HM Lifetime Tri Series again: Leadman 125, Oly and Soma St. George to try to qualify for Tremblant A couple of Xterra Trail Run races Mountain Man 70.3 Tremblant??? El Tour de Tucson Edited by tomspharmacy 2013-11-06 10:42 PM |

Member 53 | Subject: RE: 2014 Goals and races Rocky Point OLY in April. It will be my first open water race. And the longest. Only a couple of sprints under my belt so far. After that, not sure. Maybe Tour De Tucson, since I mostly bike. |

Master 1484 Sedona, AZ | Subject: RE: 2014 Goals and races I did about 35-40 bike races this year between January and July. I'm going to try to do that again. Then I'll try to do a few late-season tri's. I haven't done any since IMAZ, and I kind of miss it. |

I will probably do the Oly again to beat last year's time. It is easy to talk the wife into because it is around my birthday! . I might do Leadman 125 or maybe the Oly. I want to build strength and speed, so I will follow whatever Coach Sole says. He got me through IM so I will continue to follow his lead! Devilfan, it was great meeting you and the Mrs at the merchandise tent post-IM. Clearly we have something in common beyond being Ironmen, we both married WAAYYYY up! |
