Total Time = 1h 12m 29s
Overall Rank = 156/426
Age Group = 40 to 44
Age Group Rank = 15/32
Pre-race routine:

Ate just a little this time. A piece of toast with peanut butter, cup of coffee and some water. Arrived early and set up my transition stuff. Listened to music and stretched using new D3 program I received off line.
Event warmup:

Walked and swam just prior to event
Swim
  • 12m 30s
  • 547 yards
  • 02m 17s / 100 yards
Comments:

I can swim this faster!!!
What would you do differently?:

A little more warm up swim prior to race. Not try and visualize direction so much. I was going straight enough I need to trust my swimming more.
Transition 1
  • 01m 3s
Comments:

This was the first time I have tried this. I got one shoe on but when I went to put the other on it fell off pedal. I had to stop to put it back on. It was still my best T1 by far with an overall placement of 27 which is not bad for my third only tri!
What would you do differently?:

Practice this more and maybe look at getting a bike shoe with only one strap
Bike
  • 31m 50s
  • 10 miles
  • 18.85 mile/hr
Comments:

I have been on a new Oly program now for just about two weeks. It has let me know that I can give more effort on the hills and recover fairly quickly in the flat parts. I will try harder on the hills next time.
What would you do differently?:

I need to suck it up and stand up off my seat on the hills. I could increase my time by giving a little more effort on the hills.
Transition 2
  • 01m 42s
Comments:

Again this was another huge improvement area for me. Overall place ment was59! I struggled with my shoe a liitle bit
What would you do differently?:

I need to get some quick zip laces. I still have standard ones!
Run
  • 25m 23s
  • 3 miles
  • 08m 28s  min/mile
Comments:

Not bad but I can do better. I have another race August 19th at the same course. This new Oly program is more focused on building endurance and speed. Has alot of good focused drills that I never had befor until I beacme a member. I look forard to my time the next time around.
What would you do differently?:

Need to attack the hills more aggressively! I can do this and just need to remember that no matter how hard it seems on the way up that recovery is just around the corner at the top!
Post race
Warm down:

Good walk and conversation with new friends

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of focused training. I am only two weeks into this new more focused program and I can already see a change in my enurance and mental focus. It is small but I see improvement. Can't wait to get farther into it!

Event comments:

Another safe and fun event by Tuxedo Brothers. I can't wait till the next one!
